JNet was formed in early 2010 to enable Jewish, unattached individuals in the Southend and Westcliff area to mix and meet together for a wide range of events, at a variety of locations in the region. It is felt that once established in Southend and Westcliff - we will make further contact with Jewish communities in the South East, including London, to enable these potentially small communities of single Jewish individuals to meet and link up, so that a much bigger group will then come together.

The four founders - Janet, Stephen, Sara and Ruth - also believe that Southend itself has a great deal to offer. Besides the seaside of course, we have many music venues and delightful hotel settings for people to gather. Alas there are no kosher restaurants in the area, but we hope in the future to organise meals in recommended restaurants outside of Southend - and as seen in the recent Falafal & Hummous evening - arranged with the shul's help - we had a fantastic evening under the Succah with Israeli music that was kosher catered.

The age range varies from event to event - and JNet is keen to encourage all ages to come together - although it will be appreciated that some events will suit some ages better then others and on this website guidance will be given when necessary. Although JNet, as previously mentioned, was formed for people to meet and socialise we are also keen for singles to become couples!!!

JNet will continue to develop with a newsletter, blog, recipes and feedback pages on the website -and a continuing aim to contact the London, and then nationwide, communities so that the relationship and information exchanged between the communities continues to grow, and numbers attending continuing to increase. JNet does need community support so please give us your feedback and suggestions - and attend events!! Our mission statement, after all, does says: Turn Up. Get Involved.

Finally all four of us are very proud of what has been achieved so far. We want JNet to continue to evolve and grow and establish JNet as THE place to meet other like-minded single individuals. The Southend and Westcliff Jewish community is a fantastically vibrant, generous, caring community and we can think of no other better place for JNet to have been established - enabling people to meet - and to continue this tradition.
